Describe 5 events in your life that have shaped who you are today. Possibilities
include things that happened to your parents, things that shaped your
values, preferences, dislikes, fears, hopes, and friends.
Pretend you are writing a letter to a long-lost uncle or aunt whom you
have never met. You would like to go visit them for a year in between
high school and college. Tell them what kind of work you think you'd be
able to do during that year in order to pay for your own food and clothing:
Ask someone who is very close to you (your mother, father, sister, brother,
best friend, cousin, etc.) to write a letter recommending you for college
admission. Ask them to let youread the letter. Did you find anything surprising
in the letter?
Now, in a two page essay, write your personal biography. In the biography,
discuss the most important events in your life, and how these events have
shaped who you are today. Discuss any ways in which you are unique or
special. Think of the essay as a "product announcement" or an
"advertisement" for you as a person. Allow someone close to
you to read it. Did their reaction surprise you in any way?

3, in which you will explore career possibilities.
