Describe 5 events in your life that have shaped who you are today. Possibilities include things that happened to your parents, things that shaped your values, preferences, dislikes, fears, hopes, and friends.

Pretend you are writing a letter to a long-lost uncle or aunt whom you have never met. You would like to go visit them for a year in between high school and college. Tell them what kind of work you think you'd be able to do during that year in order to pay for your own food and clothing:

Ask someone who is very close to you (your mother, father, sister, brother, best friend, cousin, etc.) to write a letter recommending you for college admission. Ask them to let youread the letter. Did you find anything surprising in the letter?

Now, in a two page essay, write your personal biography. In the biography, discuss the most important events in your life, and how these events have shaped who you are today. Discuss any ways in which you are unique or special. Think of the essay as a "product announcement" or an "advertisement" for you as a person. Allow someone close to you to read it. Did their reaction surprise you in any way?

Now you are ready to go on to Investigation 3, in which you will explore career possibilities.
